The matching framework
- Extract requirements: split the job post into “must-haves”, “nice-to-haves”, and “responsibilities”.
- Map proof: for each must-have, identify 1–2 bullets from your real experience that prove it (with scope + outcome).
- Mirror language (honestly): use the job’s terms when they accurately describe what you did (“stakeholders”, “roadmap”, “A/B testing”, “pipeline”, etc.).
- De-emphasize: remove or shrink content that distracts from the target role.
Common “match” mistakes
- Generic summary: the top third doesn’t tell the recruiter what role you’re targeting.
- Task bullets: “responsible for…” without outcomes.
- Keyword stuffing: cramming terms without evidence in bullets.
- Missing context: no numbers, no scope, no tools.
Do this faster with guided intake
This is exactly why 10xApplication’s core flow starts with structured questions: you paste the job description, then add the missing context (real achievements, constraints, “do not embellish”).
